Premier Travel Baseball Organization in Mississippi

Snopek Baseball Group (SBG) Sox

There was a need for a high level showcase baseball in the Jackson, MS area. Chris Snopek saw that need and created the Snopek Baseball Group (SBG) Sox organization in August 2019.

Originally from Cynthiana, Kentucky, Chris came to Mississippi to play college baseball for the Ole Miss Rebels. Playing Shortstop and 3rd Base, he earned SEC All-Conference and All-American Honors before being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 6th round of the 1992 draft. He played alongside Michael Jordan in the Minor Leagues before getting the call to the big leagues in 1995, playing 4 seasons in MLB before retiring in 1999. Upon retirement, he made his home in Madison (MS) and opened a small baseball academy in Flowood (MS) in 2001. Chris served as a director for East Cox Sox for 5 years and delved into youth travel baseball for a few years before creating the SBG Sox showcase travel baseball team in August 2019.

Snopek at the time ran two indoor training facilities in Jackson and Hattiesburg when players approached him about the need for local, high level showcase baseball in the area. From there, Snopek formed the SBG Sox organization that focused on players within the state of Mississippi and played in events that do not incur intense expenses while delivering a showcase ball experience in front of top universities. Each team is coached by a former college or professional player. SBG Sox is a development program that provides hands on practice and opportunities to constantly train in classes that are held 3 days a week as part of their membership, with access to professional instruction at discount rates. SBG Sox has recently expanded into Auburn, Alabama and also draws players in from Louisiana and Alabama to play.

The foundations of the SBG Sox are based off of 3 goals:

  1. Glorify the Lord in all you do.
  2. We want our coaches to teach the game: play the game hard & competitively.
  3. Get our players seen by college coaches so they can showcase their talents.

SBG certainly kept true to their goals for the first year of the organization: 28 players committed to continue their baseball career in 2020 — 12 to D1 organizations. Snopek tributes these accomplishments to his coaching staff, HS coaches, and his players’ work ethic to receive their opportunity to play at the next level. SBG has rightfully gained the respect by many organizations after their first year, and they are a top tier travel baseball organization in the southeast.

SBG was formed to provide players with a consistent and challenging schedule with strong competition while promoting players to virtually every college in the United States. Snopek’s teams did just that, as the Mississippi program went an outstanding 95-64-6 as a top baseball program in 2Dsports Summer 2020 amateur baseball tournaments with some dominant groups below:

Here are a few uncommitted players as of the release of this article that we have covered throughout the summer from the SBG Sox organization: Gates Gerhart (2022), Josh Gunter (2023), Jake Devalk (2023), Brice Deaton (2022).

On top of high school showcase teams, the SBG Sox is expanding in Youth travel baseball as well. In 2021 SBG Sox will have 20+ youth travel baseball teams in Mississippi ranging from 8u-14u.

Along with running the SBG Sox organization, Snopek came together with Avery Johnson in 2017 to form the P360 Performance Sports training academy. P360 is a baseball training academy in Jackson & Hattiesburg, MS and Auburn, AL that provides a wide range of services for players of all ages. Providing hitting instruction in batting cages, pitching instruction in a pitching tunnel, or fielding instruction on their 10,000 square foot artificial turf infield, instructors have all played at a high level in college or professionally. Group instruction is also provided that is a unique, fast paced session where batters are put through 4 phases of instruction in a group setting. These training sessions are year-round, and help players gear up for a big 2021 travel baseball season and youth baseball tournament season.
